| ACME Sign and Plastics Company was established in Abilene, Texas in 1951. The McMeekan family entered the business in 1955, when David McMeekan, Sr., Joined the existing partnership. In 1958, ACME became solely owned by the McMeekan family. David McMeekan, Sr., worked many years in the Company, prior to retirement.
The ACME staff stays up-to-date with construction practices and new materials. Acme is a current member of the Texas Sign Association, the International Sign Association, the United States Sign Council, the National Federation of Independent Business, the Abilene Chamber of Commerce and the Abilene Better Business Buereau. These memberships enable ACME to stay attuned to new products in the industry and keeps them informed of legislative activities that may affect the sign industry. David McMeekan, Sr., served as President of the Texas Sign Association (Texas Sign Manufacturers Association) 1983 - 1984. David McMeekan, Jr., served as President of Texas Sign Association 1993 - 1994. Robert Kern, managing partner, is currently serving as President of Texas Sign Association (2005 - 2006).
With the experience of ACME's employees and leadership, the company is capable of handling any size project. The business has been built on integrity, and for this reason, ACME has many repeat customers. The geographical location of Abilene in West Texas supports the company in performing tasks efficiently and in a reasonable period of time. ACME's complete line of services are offered to an area of approximately 150 miles.
